We want something we can pack easily that is not hard to carry and will stand up to elements on the beach. The most important factor is that it is comfortable and meets the demands of the sand and surf. 

A good hammock is the right length at the right weight made with comfortable material with the features you want. It’s that simple. 

Fires are nice but after a long day canoeing and hiking it can take 30 minutes to get a fire ready. Take a simple camping stove to heat your dinner and water.
